60 Knightsbridge
The Knightsbridge clubhouse is a haven for those who want a relaxing and exclusive land base in London. In common with other leading London Clubs (originally all called "Gentlemen's Clubs") the Royal Thames started in a coffee house and the Club's restaurant is still called the "Coffee Room". There are bars, reading rooms, and cabins for those staying in London.
A friendly welcome, fine food and comfortable accommodation are guaranteed. The Club has a distinguished cellar and a tradition of serving superb wines at reasonable cost. There is a wide range of social events for members, all summarised on this website.
The Clubhouse is also available for many different types of function. Each must be sponsored by a member, which can be arranged through the Club Secretary. Functions are generally held in rooms overlooking Hyde Park and may be on a large scale or small, ranging from private meetings, dinners and lectures to class association gatherings, wedding receptions and bigger corporate dinners for up to 165.
The Club operates a "Business Casual" (without a tie) dress code until 7pm throughout the club. After that time gentlemen are required to wear jackets and ties in the Cumberland Bar and the Coffee Room and ladies are asked to dress appropriately..
"Business Casual" dress code remains acceptable at all times in the Britannia Bar, and throughout the ground floor of the Clubhouse. At weekends it is acceptable for members and guests to wear smart casual clothing, including smart jeans. Full details of the dress code can be made available through the secretariat.
