RTYC Younger Members at the Rolex Maxi World Cup - Final Day (Day 6)

Porto Cervo really did save the best until last - just when we thought it couldn't get any better!  Saturday, the final day of racing, saw 18-20 knots of breeze, presenting the sailing conditions that Highland Fling was really built for!
Once again we were sent on a spectacular coastal course beating upwind through Bomb Alley before rounding the top of Maddelena. From here the course took us downwind along the east coast of the island, back towards Porto Cervo. The flat seas and strong breeze enabled us to reach speeds of over 20 knots for the first time throughout the regatta, and once again finish in first place with an elapsed time of 2 hrs 15, winning by a margin of 7 minutes.

Highland Fling finished the regatta with four 1sts (plus a discard - another first place!) and therefore were victorious in winning the Maxi Racing Class for 2014.
A huge thank you to Lord Laidlaw and everyone else involved in making the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup such an enjoyable and memorable experience.
