Charity Classic Yacht Match Race - MARIQUITA (125FT) v ELEONORA (160FT)

Classic Yachts Mariquita and Eleonora will take part in a history making Charity Classic Yacht Match Race on Sunday 26th July 2015 under the Burgee of the Royal Southern Yacht Club in the Solent and RTYC members are being offered the opportunity of being part of the crews.

There are in total 25 places available for crewing on either boat (20 on Eleonora and 5 on Mariquita) and you are invited to bid for a place. The 25 highest bidders will go racing and the 75 under bidders from all six invited Clubs (RYS, RTYC, RLYC, RSolentYC, RORC and the RSrnYC are invited to a cocktail party at the Royal Southern Yacht Club on board Mariquita and at their recently commissioned Prince Philip Yacht Haven in Hamble on Sunday 2nd August 2015.
To give you a guide for bidding, at the Commodore’s Charity Ball at the Royal Southern Yacht Club last year the average price paid for crewing on two Classic Yachts (Mariquita and Elena, a Yacht similar to Eleonora) was £1,500 per head but please bid as you think fit.
The proceeds from the bidders from all six Clubs (whether successful or not) will go towards the purchase of a Hamble Wetwheels boat (operated by the RSrnYC) to take disabled and disadvantaged people out on the water which we all enjoy so much.
Please email the Secretary – – no later than 17th July with your bids so that I can notify the Royal Southern Yacht Club who will in turn email you if you have  been successful w/c Monday 20th July once they have received the bids from all invited Clubs. This email will request from the successful bidders where they would like to be collected from (Royal Southern Yacht Club or Cowes) to be taken out to the race boat by RIB at 09.30 hrs for a race start at 11.10: the race is intended to be approximately 2 hours and the winning bidders will be asked to take suitable clothing with them. The 75 under bidders will also be notified with details of the Cocktail Party on Sunday 2nd August.
I look forward to receiving your early replies with bids for forwarding to the RSrnYC and sincerely hope that you will support Geoff Holt MBE, DL. a great Ambassador for disabled sports and founder of Wetwheels on 2011.
