Congratulations to Annie Lush

This week saw RTYC member Annie Lush complete the Volvo Ocean Race, Team SCA are the first all female crew to enter the race since the 2001-2002 edition. Since 2002 Annie has been racing full time on the Olympic circuit and has also competed on the World Match Race Tour. Annie moved to Lanzarote to train as part of Team SCA full time when the team formed in 2013.

During leg 8 of the 9 leg race, the women’s team became the first all female crew in 25 years to win a leg of the race, this was the 647 mile stretch from Lisbon to Lorient, which they won by more than 48 minutes. They also demonstrated very strong performances in the inshore races, winning the Abu Dhabi and Auckland in port races.

Only four female crews have competed in the race's 41-year history, and Team SCA's victory was the first since Tracy Edwards' Maiden won two legs in 1989-90.

The race began in the Spanish city of Alicante in October 2015, teams have visited 11 ports in 11 countries across nine legs, the women’s team finished on Monday 22nd June 2015.

RTYC is immensely proud of Annie for competing in this incredible race. Please find more information about the race here:
