Cruising Dinner Report


The annual Cruising Dinner was held at the Royal Thames on 24th November and 90 members and their guests enjoyed a pre dinner social in the Britannia Bar followed by a three course dinner in the Coffee Room.

The Captain of Cruising, Nick Atkinson, presented Tim Fooks, a new member of the cruising fraternity, with the Royal Temple Seymour King Challenge Cup for winning the Autumn Excuse on corrected time. Richard Hill, the Rear Commodore Sailing, was presented with the Bodrum Tile for the most hospitable boat and Andrew Collins, Maggie Kay and George Ehlers were presented with mementoes for their highly successful organisation of the Canal Du Midi and Gallipoli rallies respectively.

Nick outlined the cruising activities for next year which include the Spring Excuse on the 22nd to 24th April in Portsmouth, the Cumberland Regatta on the 17th to 19th June in Cowes and the Croatia Rally on the 17th to 30th September. Nick reminded everyone that the Croatia Rally was filling up fast with good numbers showing interest and so if members want to charter yachts they need to consider booking by the Sailing Forum on 19th January when the charter representative will be attending to answer any questions.
