Gstaad Ski Yachting 2016 – Be Part of the Team

4th-6th March 2016

Gstaad Yacht Club have invited members of the Royal Thames to join them in the stunning Alpine surroundings of Gstaad to compete for the Ski Yachting crown in 2016.

The event starts on Friday 4th with evening ski racing up the Eggli Mountain where competitors are awarded for the best consistency in their time over two runs down a giant slalom. Dinner is then served in the Mountain Restaurant with views of the floodlit mountains and dancing afterwards into the night.

The morning of Saturday 5th can either be used for some early morning skiing or a leisurely start can allow teams to train with the model boats. A buffet lunch is followed by match racing with America’s Cup remote controlled boats in the afternoon at the local swimming pool. The rankings from the skiing part of the competition determine which teams go through to the Quarter Finals, the Qualifications or the Repechage sections of the match racing. At the end of the racing the victorious club is declared the winner of the Gstaad Ski Yachting Trophy.

The event is finished off with a glamorous evening of cocktails, dinner and a prize giving held at the Gstaad Yacht Club clubhouse.

This is a fun and social, but still competitive, weekend in the beautiful surroundings of the Swiss Alps and RTYC members are invited to come along and join in as part of the team or to support. Teams consist of four skiers, two of whom will also act as model boat skippers. Places are also available for each team member to bring a guest to the event.

There will be drinks at 60 Knightsbridge on Thursday 14th January from 1830 to 2030 for those interested in attending the event to meet with the event manager and discuss the event in further detail.

If you would like to be part of the RTYC team or would like to attend the drinks in January please contact the event manager Alan Waxman directly:
