The new fleet of J/70s are in Cowes and ready for the 2015 season. Please register for these events online, or contact the Sailing Office.

Location: Sailing out of Cowes-Shepards Marina
 
Cost: Free of charge!  (Optional donation to RTYC Charitable Trust)
 
Event format: 
0900: Gather at Shepards Marina, Cowes
0930: Briefing from Anthony and Charlie Esse, and Jason Sivyer, bosun 'An introduction to J/70s'
1030: Head out to Central Solent for on the water training
1230: Break for lunch afloat
1500: Return to Shepards for debrief
1600: Drinks in local hostelry before heading home
 
 
Event: J/70 Training Weekend - Speed and Manoeuvring
 
Date: 16 and 17 May 2015
 
Location: Sailing out of Cowes-Shepards Marina; Accommodation available at RLYC from £45 per night, please contact RLYC on 01983 29972

Cost: £140 per member (£70 per member per day)

Saturday 16 May
0900: Gather at Shepards Marina, Cowes
0930: Briefing from Ruairidh Scott ‘Rig and boat set-up for high performance racing'
1030: Head out to Central Solent for on the water training
            - Upwind speed
            - Tacking
            - Downwind speed
            - Gybing
1230: Break for lunch afloat, followed by
            - Hoists and drops
            - Short course racing
1500: Return to Shepards for debrief
1900: Gather for supper at local restaurant (TBA)
 
Sunday 17 May
0900: Gather at Shepards Marina, Cowes
0930: Briefing from Ruairidh Scott
            - Refresh on skills learnt on previous day
            - Starting manoeuvres and race situations
1030: Head out to Central Solent for on the water training
            - Short course racing
1230: Break for lunch afloat, followed by
            - Short course racing
1500: Return to Shepards for debrief
1600: Head home
 
J/70 charges
 
£200 per boat per day (i.e. £50 per person if you are racing four-up), payable by the charterer.
£160 per boat per day if all on board are members and all are aged 26 years or younger.
 
These charges will apply for all Club events as well as for most external events.  The charterer will need to be responsible for any damage up to £800 which is the insurance excess; in the case of a RTYC member chartering a J/70, the deposit will only become payable in the event of damage or loss of boat kit.
