Members Evening/ Talk - Thursday 29th October

The October Members' Evening will incorporate a Talk by David Rooney, Curator of Time, Navigation and Transport at the Science Museum, London, and the former Curator of Timekeeping at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, part of the National Maritime Museum. He has curated award-winning galleries on time and navigation as well as the Science Museum’s critically acclaimed Codebreaker exhibition on the mathematician Alan Turing. He is currently curating the museum’s £5-million Mathematics Gallery project, due to open next year. He writes and speaks widely about time, and his first book, Ruth Belville—the Greenwich Time Lady, was published in 2008. He is a Liveryman of the Clockmakers’ Company, a Freeman of the City of London and a trustee of a number of horological charities. David's Talk is based on his prize winning article published in RIN'S 'Navigation News' last year and promises to be a fascinating and entertaining exposé.

Following the Talk there will be an extended Club table for dinner in the Coffee Room where all members and guests attending the talk will receive the members discount off the menu price.
Please book with Lucia so that she can organise the best possible evening.
