NYYC Invitational Cup RTYC Update

Thursday was a very solid day aboard the RTYC boat. The commentators called us "the conservative RTYC" and that suits us fine. We didn't take any major risks tried to sail with the fleet as much as possible and to keep clean air.
Ian Dobson and Katie Greenland delivered superb tactics and JG drove with consummate skill and when required steely nerves. The corners and all boat handling manoeuvres were executed faultlessly by a polished and very practiced crew. A great measure of the team spirit aboard is that there has not been a single sharp word or raised voice. This is a team in the true spirit of that word.
I am writing this as we motor out for the 4th days racing. An 8 point lead is a great tribute to the hard work and skill of the team but we are all fully aware that one bad race can quickly cancel that out.
Despite the brilliance of the competition thus young and talented group of sailors are quietly and efficiently preparing the boat and themselves. There is a steely focused and calm atmosphere aboard.
We would all like to thank the many members of the club who have sent messages of support and encouragement and in particular our flag officers and family members who are out here cheering us on.
On behalf of the team
