Talk at 60 Knightsbridge - 'Time for Navigation in the Chronometer Age'


David Rooney is the Curator of Time, Navigation and Transport at the Science Museum, London, and the former Curator of Timekeeping at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, part of the National Maritime Museum. He has curated award-winning galleries on time and navigation as well as the Science Museum’s critically acclaimed Codebreaker exhibition on the mathematician Alan Turing. He is currently curating the museum’s £5-million Mathematics Gallery project, due to open next year. He writes and speaks widely about time, and his first book, Ruth Belville—the Greenwich Time Lady, was published in 2008. He is a Liveryman of the Clockmakers’ Company, a Freeman of the City of London and a trustee of a number of horological charities.
