The Mum's Bucket Final

This was a rescheduled event from the 12 March when a lack of wind forced a postponement.

6 of the 8 finalists were able to attend the new date and arrived to an almost perfect Queen Mary weather: 10 knots of breeze and sunshine.  The RO team led by Jo Lucas supported by the Umpire team led by Chris Simon set up the racing very promptly to capitalise on the conditions and 15 flights were run in quick succession.

The random pairs format gives everyone a chance to race with and against all the teams and after some extremely close racing the top 4 were extremely hard to call.

In the end Jon Redding, much to his apparent surprise at the prize giving, emerged victorious and Henry Arnold, after countback, came second followed by Angus Prentice/William Edwards in third with Olly Dix fourth.  Ian Cook, at only one win behind, came fifth followed by guest Jack Kilburn.

Jon Redding and his team win both the Mum’s Bucket and two tickets to the Prize Winners Dinner on 7th November.

Special thanks goes to the Race Committee: Jo Lucas, Linda Pennington, Michelle Brennan. The Umpires: Chris Simon, Bill Wyatt, David Lees, Hugh Selka and Ed Fryer.
