Cumberland Regatta

Date: Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July

Venue: Cowes

Format: Two days of navigational exercises in the Solent joining in with our Younger Members Regatta which is held in the J70's over the same weekend.
Our annual Cumberland Regatta is recognised as the high point of the Club's social and sailing year.
Cruisers race on the Saturday for the Queen Victoria Cup in the morning and the Royal Thames Offshore Challenge Cup in the afternoon, with a stop for lunch in between. The Younger Members also race at the same time in the Club’s fleet of J/70s. Berths are available on Saturday evening in the Haven at The Royal Yacht Squadron, by kind permission of the Flag Officers.  Sunday sees our Pursuit Exercise for the 1776 Cumberland Cup, the oldest yacht racing trophy in the world.

Provisional Schedule:
Friday: Yachts arrive during the afternoon in Cowes. Limited berths available in the RYS Haven, subject to availability, or on the RTYC pontoon
1830   Drinks followed by dinner at North House
Dress Code: Smart Casual

Saturday
1100   Start of two NavEx races for the Queen Victoria Cup and the RTYC Offshore Challenge Cup
1300   Lunch between races in the vicinity of Osborne Bay
1800   Cumberland Regatta & YM Summer Weekend Drinks Party on pontoon
1900   The Annual Dinner of the Cumberland Sailing Society (founded 1775) on the Platform at RYS
Dress Code: Reefers or Lounge Suits
Limited berths available in the RYS Haven, subject to availability.

Sunday
1100   Start of the Pursuit NavEx for the Cumberland Cup 1776
1600   The Cumberland Fleet departs
