Kicking-off your Summer cruising activities with a trip to the beautiful French fishing town of St Vaast. In 2020, Friday the 8th May will be the early May Bank Holiday due to VE Day celebrations that weekend. We will therefore plan to leave on Thursday evening in order to make an overnight trip to France in readiness for the long weekend. On Friday 8th May High Water St Vaast is 11.06 CET (10.06 BST) and 23.26 CET (22.23 BST). The Lock should open about 2 hours before local HW (lock opening times will be published nearer the time).

Provisional Schedule:

Thursday 7th May:

Evening departure from home ports for St Vaast. Tides in the Solent sets east towards the Forts on Thursday evening. It is approximately 80 miles to St Vaast from Cowes. Alternatively you can undertake the trip during the day on Friday if preferred.

Friday 8th May:

Friday afternoon - Cycle to Barfleur Lighthouse (for the fit) or a trip to Ile De Tatihou via a DUKW and visit the museum and surrounding fortifications. Or just wander around the pretty town of St Vaast and the adjoining coastline.
Friday evening - Hopefully wine tasting in the cellars of Mason Gosselin (time and venue TBC).
Dress code: Smart Casual

Saturday 9th May:

Morning - Start with a wander around the Saturday Market which has a large array of local produce (as do the local shops).
Lunch at local cafes/restaurants or purchase local shell fish (from the morning's catch) and eat on board. Order wines (which can be delivered to your yacht by Mason Gosselin).
1830 Pre Dinner Drinks on Pontoon.
1930 Dinner at Les Fuchsias Restaurant, Hotel De France (a RTYC member’s favourite - TBC)

Sunday 10th May:

Depart for UK. High Water is 12.32 CET (11.32 BST). Lock gates should open approximately 2 hours before HW so it is just possible to get back to UK before nightfall. If an earlier departure is needed you may need to move out on Saturday night (after dinner) and anchor outside of the Harbour. Alternatively sail back to UK overnight.
