We have various sailing opportunities for the Thames Younger Members throughout the year, and these are aimed at all levels.
There are "fun" fleet racing days, using the club's fleet of J80's on Queen Mary's and the Solent, which are designed to provide a mixture of competitive racing and a social outing, and are a great way to get to know other younger members.
Several members have kindly invited YMs to join them for regattas, racing on everything from Irvine Laidlaw's 82' maxi Highland Fling in the Mediterranean, to X boats in Chichester Harbour. We also had a crew of Younger Members entered aboard a J122 in Cowes Week, who helped owner Peter Bainbridge to achieve an overall class win.
The Thames is also heavily involved in the burgeoning European 2K Team Racing series, entering teams into a series of regattas held around the world, and raced in a variety of racing keelboats. Events are held across Europe, from Monaco and Hamburg to Rome and London. Team racing skills are honed at Queen Mary’s on training days, and also during the Mum’s Bucket mixed pairs team racing event.
