Introduction to Team Racing
4/6/2024 12:00 AM, 4/7/2024 12:00 AM
This year, the RTYC & RYS are joining forces to produce three days of Coached Team Race Training, consolidating that training with a final day of Random Pairs racing. At the end, all participants should be match-ready for the Season.

The first Weekend will be run by the RTYC from Queen Mary’s Sailing Club, TW15 1UA. This will consist of two days’ coaching, by three coaches, to create a solid base upon which to build. Twelve Sonars are available to charter, each for crew of four. Spinnakers will be used. The Briefing on both days will commence at 0930, and participants will need to bring their own lunch. Each day will finish with a Debriefing Session starting at 1600.

The second Weekend will be run by the RYS from The Castle, Cowes. Twelve J70s are available to charter, each for crew of four. Spinnakers will not be used. The Saturday will continue the coaching process, and will begin with a Briefing at 0930 in the RYS Pavilion. A shuttle-run from the Hamble will be organized for those who would prefer not to use the Red Jet. The “Flotilla” will depart at 0830 for Cowes; location to follow. The Debriefing on the Saturday will be held at 1700 in the RYS Pavilion. A Supper will follow at 1900 for 1930 for those with sufficient energy. The Briefing on the Sunday will commence at 0930, with the day finishing in time to catch the 1645 Red Jet, or to get those back to the Hamble for 1700. Accommodation may be available, and packed lunch meal many be requested.

While preference will be given to those who wish to do both weekends, either weekend may be separately booked.

The cost per person per weekend is £125, with accommodation and packed meals in Cowes charged separately. All costs will be charged to an individual’s Mess Bill / Account.

A Telegram Group will be established for both weekends, with the details emailed to all who sign-up.

Either put together a crew, or sign-up for yourself, for a thoroughly enjoyable couple of weekends both on and off the water.
